As the first person in my family to attend college it is my duty to pave the road to help my family and peers. I came into Delta Sigma Pi with the intention of becoming a better leader and to learn how to navigate the professional landscape. I also want to learn how to network and prepare myself for the competitive business world. My career objective is to one day receive my CFA and devote my time to an organization that contributes back to the community and motivates its employees. On my off days I spend my free time playing soccer at the field that is down the hill from my house. When it is too cold for that, I am usually watching documentaries on Netflix. Currently, I am a member of the Rutgers Finance Society in the student liaison committee. My job is to increase student involvement for events that are hosted by my club. I also try to complete 20+ hours of community service each semester.
My name is Taylor Bonforte, a senior at Rutgers Business School Newark. I am an accounting major expected to graduate May 2020 with 150 credits for my CPA exam. I joined Delta Sigma Pi, to collaborate with a collective of like-minded individuals who would strive to be leaders in their respective fields. I aspire to one day work for a Big Four Firm doing Audit and Assurance My hobbies include drawing, guitar, soccer, comics, history, and meeting new people. I am involved in Fundraising Committee and Professional Committee of the Delta Sigma Pi Colony.
I joined Delta Sigma Pi because I wanted to further my academic involvement, learn more about my community, meet other business-driven students, and overall be part of something larger than myself. Community college taught me that simply getting good grades is not enough. It does not help one expand on themselves, nor does it promote much personal-development. Joining Delta Sigma Pi, I hope that I’ll be able to do just that, while meeting others with the same goals and work ethic as me.
Upon graduating Rutgers Business School in May of 2020, I aim to find a job in the finance industry, preferably on Wall Street. Currently, I am leaning towards financial advising/planning. Ultimately, I would like to get out of professional finance, and pursue my true passion in the automotive industry. I have goals to either establish a professional racing team, or to open a high-end performance shop.
I also want to build a dog sanctuary in my native country of Georgia.
After having the pleasure of serving our country in one of the most historic units of the United States Army, the 82ndAirborne Division, I found the transition from the military to college to be difficult. Being that I am not the traditional student, I had trouble relating with some of my peers, until I became involved with Delta Sigma Pi. I quickly came to realize how mature, motivated, and professional our organization is. Delta Sigma Pi brought the sense of camaraderie that I had been missing. This sense of camaraderie has helped me and my fellow students develop not only professionally, but intellectually as well. My expected graduation is in December 2019 and I am eager to apply the skills I have acquired as a member and become a leader in business.
Joining Delta Sigma Pi was something that I always wanted to do. As a people person, I loved the idea of making relationships while still getting down to business. Being around a group of work driven and social individuals is what really drove me to be a part of this organization. Down the road, I would love to work in the corporate world in a diverse environment. Considering that I am a finance major, I see myself in the hustle of corporate America. I thoroughly enjoy the game of soccer. Whether it is sitting down and watching a match or just chit chatting with a couple of fans, I love every aspect of the game. Along with that, I take passion in photography. Having a keen eye for outdoor aesthetics, I find great interest in taking pictures of intriguing things in my surrounding.
My interests in Delta Sigma Pi stems from the shared values I as an individual and the fraternity share in common. As a Finance major, I am looking to sharpen my professional, leadership, ethical, and community service skills while having a tremendous impact on the community. I seek to meet like-minded individuals who are willing to share knowledge and form a brotherhood. Having the opportunity to be a part of something such as Delta Sigma Pi is a beyond rewarding.
After graduation, I plan on working in Wealth Management. My interests for Wealth Management come from my willingness to represent my clients. I am a hardworking, driven individual looking to manage wealth of the financial assets of high net worth individuals
My interests include, but are not limited to: fitness, fishing, jogging on the beach, wake boarding, spending quality time with family, and hanging out with friends.
When I first heard of Delta Sigma Pi and what they represented, I was instantly interested in becoming a part of the fraternity. I believe that Delta Sigma Pi will allow me to become more involved on campus and in the community. In addition, I hope that the fraternity will allow me to meet more people of all different backgrounds and ethnicities while helping me better my professional skills. The opportunity to be part of a brotherhood such as Delta Sigma Pi is exciting, and I hope to learn a lot from everyone else and be able to contribute as much as possible.
Upon completing my bachelor’s degree in Finance, I hope to begin working in Asset Management. As a hardworking individual that still likes to have fun, I hope to ideally join a company that shares those same values. Lastly, I would like to return to school to hopefully receive an MBA so I can further my understanding of business in general.
Hello, my name is Matthew Cooney and I am currently a student at Rutgers Business School majoring in finance. Some skills I pride myself in are time management, leadership, and communication. My priority is working hard and improving myself every day. I enjoy helping people and work well in a team environment. I look forward to new challenges and finding creative approaches to solve problems as they arise.
I joined Delta Sigma Pi because I am dedicated to professional development, philanthropic activities within the community as well as a brotherhood that will last for my entire life. My current career goal is to become a successful financial advisor. My hobbies include watching and playing sports, working out at the gym, and spending time with friends and family. I am also currently a member of the professional development committee in Ascend Leadership.
Before starting college, I had exposure to what a business professional fraternity was all about because of my sister’s friends involved in it on the Rutgers – New Brunswick Campus, specifically Delta Sigma Pi. After coming to Rutgers – Newark and realizing that we did not have any business professional fraternities, I jumped at the idea of getting involved when students at our business school began to pursue this. Delta Sigma Pi is a very well-known co-ed business professional fraternity that promotes community service, professionalism, and brotherhood. Having the opportunity to be a part of something such as Delta Sigma Pi is a very beneficial experience in various ways.
After graduation, I would like to work within the finance field at a bank until I continue my further education for my MBA. After successfully completing my MBA, I would like to make a transition into a role at a corporate company within the fashion/beauty industry using all the skills I obtained during my years of work and graduate experience.
I am a senior pursuing my Bachelor’s of Science in accounting at Rutgers Business School. My experience ranges from Tableu and SalesForce to Quickbooks and Excel. I have had experiences pitching viable business solutions to executives, capital budget forecasts to c-suite executives, and leading the largest student latino business organization at Rutgers University - Newark.
Throughout my time at Rutgers, I’ve held student leadership positions - such as serving as the President of the Association of Latino Professionals For America (ALPFA) as well as the senator for Rutgers Business School in the Student Governing Association. Upon completing my terms with both organizations, I was approached by Christian Tavares to commence our very first co-ed business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi.
Besides school, I compete at a national level in powerlifting with the United States Powerlifting Association (USAPL). I enjoy attending concerts, watching movies, and traveling.
I am a Finance student at Rutgers Business School in Newark, with a strong interest in Financial Services, Operations and the Business of Sports. I hold experience in operations, logistics and tax preparation. I am also working on a research project called “Exploitation in Sports” which highlights how certain athletes are exploited. I enjoy collaboration and work exceptionally well in group settings, additionally I am remarkably analytical, and I love solving and reporting complex problems. I would describe myself as even-keeled, outgoing and a sports junkie.
I chose to join Delta Sigma Pi because the values and mission of the organization are appealing, and I feel like with my strong commitment and meaningful ideas for improvement, I could serve to be a valuable member. I am also interested in forming long lasting relationships with the members, serving in the community and excelling academically.
I am a student at Rutgers University - Newark. I will be majoring in Finance and Applied Mathematics, with an expected graduation date of December 2020. I want to be apart of a field that holds both mathematical and financial skills by pursing a Master of Science in Financial Engineering after my time in Rutgers. My career goals consist of working in risk management, quantitative research, quantitative analysis, and portfolio manager. At Rutgers, I have joined the accounting society, women in business, and marketing and management society.
It’s important for me to remain busy and occupying myself with material that will help me become the person I want to be. When I have free time, I enjoy reading books, playing sudoku, playing pool, and exploring the city.
I joined Delta Sigma Pi to enhance my professional and personal capabilities. With the help of the fraternity and its resources, I hope to grow wiser and cultivate life-long friendships. I plan to be an active member of Delta Sigma Pi and represent what they are all about.
Since I entered the workforce, I have found my satisfaction in finding new ways to add value and developing myself as a professional. I found further satisfaction working towards my degree by first attending the County College or Morris and currently at Rutgers University.
As a transfer student to Rutgers Business School I quickly found that the Newark campus lacked a sense of community I was looking for. As a school with an 85% commuter rate, the school lacked a strong sense of community. Many student organizations merely put students on an email list and touted high membership despite low engagement.
When I found out that some students were trying to bring Delta Sigma Pi to Rutgers Newark I jumped at the opportunity to get involved and help bring a sense of community that I felt the Business School lacked. Since joining the colony I have had the opportunity to work with my fellow students to plan events to bring students together as a community focused on developing ourselves into young professionals. I am graduating in just a few months and hope to carry the skills and confidence I have learned with building our Delta Sigma Pi colony in the professional world.
Experienced Leader with a demonstrated history of teaching in education, moreover, in Project Management. Skilled in Microsoft Word and Excel. I have a basic foundation to what Accounting and Finance entails. The way I spend my free time is by keeping up with Politics and Financial Markets. I’m working for a perspective degree in Investment Banking, Private Equity, or Accounting.
I joined Delta Sigma Pi because of the opportunity to see myself grow and develop in my career. To be quite frank, I also wanted to join a community that would be able to accept who I am as a person.

I consider myself a young, ambitious supply chain management professional with experience in project management, procurement, sales, data analysis, account management, and inventory control management. I have managed to excel in my career by developing my interests and then pursuing a career in a field where I developed a strong sense of passion and dedication. I look forward to my career taking me to travel to new places, develop new skills, meeting new people and ultimately bring value and development to any organization that is willing to work with me.
I was keen on building new friendships and meeting people when I transferred into RUTGERS NEWARK from Miami, FL. I was fortunate to over hear some of the amazing developments happing with your members. As I researched more, I found out that Delta Sigma Pi is a fraternity that encourages leadership and service within the community. I learn more about what Delta Sigma Pi was about, the more I knew I wanted to be a member. I found a group of people who were as whole-hearted as I am about service on a grander scale, giving back, leadership, professionalism and brotherhood. I learned Delta Sigma Pi is one of the largest co-ed professional business fraternities in the U.S., and that told showed me history and credibility in what they represent as a chapter. Lastly, I believe it is an honor to be part of the founding members of the Rutgers Newark School of Business.
I am working on a project now with current members of Delta Sigma Pi and plan to stay involved as a post collegiate as it is very rewarding as well as helpful in networking and my career development.
What attracted me to this specific Fraternity was its Pillars of Service, Scholarship, Brotherhood, and Professionalism where unlike all the other Sororities/Fraternities on the campus, this Fraternity has placed their focused intentions to their societal and communal impact. Rather than focusing their engagement with obsolete social gatherings and festivities on campus, Delta Sigma Pi has placed their attention more toward its interaction outside of Rutgers – Newark’s boundaries. I noticed that the fraternity not only offered community engagement but as well offered professionalism and business opportunities for such a person majoring in finance like myself would find to be very beneficial in the quickly upcoming years.
I’m a dog-loving, ambitious, and driven individual with hopes of one day working in the financial sector. Born in Piscataway, New Jersey, and having lived there all my life, I have found comfort in knowing that New Jersey is and will always be my home. While I strive to achieve both personal and professional goals, I always look for ways in which I can better myself. Whether that be through learning from mentors or from personal experience, I realize that you can never learn too much. There is always room for improvement.
I enjoy hiking, playing video games, taking photos with my Canon rebel t3i, and I’m an absolute tech geek. I built my own computer from scratch and specifically use it for playing video games.
My story of attending Rutgers-Newark is a long one: to keep it short, I previously attended the College of New Jersey as a Biology major. I realized the Sciences weren’t for me and switched into Finance, after long talks with my older brother on what I wanted to be. I transferred over to Rutgers-Newark and have appreciated its culture and atmosphere. Everyone here is driven, motivated, and willing to receive their degree and move on with their lives.
I am involved in a few different organizations such as Rutgers Finance Society, Rutgers Accounting Society, and ALPFA. Most notably, I am now involved with Delta Sigma Pi. I joined Delta Sigma Pi as a means to expand my network and further develop my professional presence – with the hopes of also giving back to the Newark community through the organization. My time in Delta Sigma Pi has just begun, and I hope it will be very promising.

Knowing that this was a young organization on my campus at the time, I wanted to be apart of the founding members of this fraternity and leave behind a well-established foundation and for future members to grow upon. Delta Sigma Pi prides itself on educating and training its members in professional skills, leadership, ethics, and service. I hope to apply my knowledge to help others not only within the fraternity but also within the community as well.

I was born in August 12, 1997 in the island of Puerto Rico, San Juan to two immigrant parents of Dominican decent. My farther is from Santiago DR and my mother from Aneiba. At age 7, I meant my father’s employer, Carlos Virelles a businessman. He later became my mentor and at age 17 inspired me to leave for the mainland in pursuit of my education and better opportunities. I am the first-generation college student in my family.
My first semester (fall of 2015) I helped Co-found the business club in my community college and was made the Vice President thereafter. I then join Phi Theta Kappa honor society and became a five-star member. I served as Secretary of the Honors in Action committee, where we cooperated with DCP&P to help some 40 foster youth get and stay in college: I ultimately was awarded the Scholarship Award for my involvement.
When I arrived at the mainland, I had left much behind, (i.e. friends and family) and the importance of networking became more apparent as I progressed. I reasoned that a professional fraternity was most suited for me. Delta Sigma Pi can provide the networking opportunities for my success in the business world, and simultaneously the opportunity to build meaningful relationships.
My goal/vision is to build a large systematized property portfolio. After graduation I aim to work as an entry level analyst for either a Fortune 500 company or a large Real Estate firm. I will than work my way up and use that to catapult myself over time.
Nikolas R. Martini
Since I entered the workforce at 15 years old, I have found a high level of satisfaction on the work that I have done. I have always found great joy in performing my best in the face of the challenges my professional life sent my way. This fulfillment has also been provided to me by the ongoing pursuit of my degree.
When I'm not working or in the classroom, I can most always be found at the nearest body of water. I'll either be swimming laps, catching some surf, or working on my tan! I also love to travel when I can, and I love getting lost in a good book.
My love for the water was a big reason for my time in lifeguarding and pool management. On top of the good times and the memories these positions provided me, they also taught me a lot. I learned the value of strong team building, the importance of an organized and efficient workplace, and how to keep my head and take charge in situations that may seem as though they are falling apart in front of me.
I am skilled in customer relations and sales. I deeply enjoy getting to know the patrons that I am fortunate enough to serve. My time in college thus far has provided me with a plethora of knowledge, and I am deeply excited to begin utilizing that knowledge in a meaningful way.

For most of my life I lived an introvert lifestyle, but in these past few years, I decided I want to change that. Now I define myself as an individual who has adopted the extrovert culture. To further solidify this change and improve myself, I joined Delta Sigma Pi. As a member of this organization, I am an active member and put in situations where I am forced to come out of my comfort zone and interact with others. Joining Delta Sigma Pi is a big step to not only building myself, but also long-lasting relationships, on a personal and professional level, that I carry with me for life. Upon joining I discovered that I am also a founding father, which in itself is a challenge and reward for all members. I look forward to working together with my fellow organization members to achieve our goal and overcome this challenge.
Delta Sigma Pi provides an opportunity unique to the Rutgers Newark Campus as one of the only business fraternities. As a business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi places an emphasis on professional development while providing many opportunities and tools to grow professionally. Unlike many of the other fraternities around campus, this fraternity directly allows you to inherit a network of professionals that are relevant to the corporate world and business industry. The fraternity also holds values that I knew I could align myself with. They ensure that they incorporate diversity amongst the selection of their members while fraternity also focusing on training it’s members how to lead ethically, as they are the world’s next generation of leaders.
